Ann Ebers

Ann Marie Ebers, 87, of Springfield, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her children. She was born May 21, 1938, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Thomas W. and Lillie (Barger) Shepherdson. She married John Ebers, Jr. May 29, 1964, at Trinity Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death October 9, 2013.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Richard) Miller of Springfield; son, John (Leigh) Ebers of Springfield; two grandchildren; Katie and Anna Ebers and several nieces and nephews.

Ann was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harold Shepherdson; nephews Mark and Paul Shepherdson and niece, Becky Shepherdson.

Ann graduated from Lincoln High School and was a licensed cosmetologist. She owned and operated Ann Ebers Beauty Salon for over 50 years. She was an avid gardener, animal lover and a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Ann adored her granddaughters and loved cooking and hosting family dinners. Ann enjoyed being a figure skating mom to her daughter traveling to competitions and preparing for ice shows and sports mom to her son attending every game. She loved angels and collecting angel figurines that were displayed throughout her home. Ann also enjoyed decorating for holidays, especially Christmas, and the family tradition of annual after Thanksgiving shopping trips.

Ann was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School at Trinity and loved worshipping there.

Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Aaron Mueller officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Animal Protective League.
