We gather today to honor and celebrate the life of Billie G. Simmons, known affectionately as Bill, a man whose faith and spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Bill was born in Alabama on February 7th, 1950. His parents move to Missouri when he was an infant. In Missouri, he attends Horace Mann Elementary, graduated from Central High School, member of St Francis Baptist Church where he sung in the choir and worked at a bakery baking bread, before relocating to San Diego in 1968. Bill was a beacon of light that shone brightly for 75 years until his peaceful passing in San Diego, California, on July 14th, 2025, due to cardiopulmonary arrest. He came to Christ and was baptized at an early age. Bill’s life was a testament to his unwavering faith and the Christian values he held dear.

He served his country with honor and distinction as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, embodying the core values of honor, courage, and commitment. After his military service, he transitioned to a fulfilling career as an auto parts technician, where he applied the same dedication and excellence. Family was the cornerstone of Bill’s life.
Bill’s interests and hobbies were as diverse as they were fulfilling. He found joy in riding bikes, a pastime that allowed him to feel the wind on his face and God’s grace in his heart. His love for the Lord was further expressed through his active involvement in bible study and singing in the choir, where his voice was a vessel for the praise and worship of his Savior. Bill was also a skilled handyman, whether fixing cars or tending to his garden, he did so with a patience and precision that spoke volumes of his character. Listening to gospel music was another source of comfort and strength for Bill. The harmonious melodies and powerful lyrics resonated with his faith-filled soul, uplifting him and those around him.
Billie selfless, nature was evident in every aspect of his life; from the way he cared for his family to the way he served his community. His spirited demeanor was contagious, and he had a unique ability to inspire others to be their best selves. As we reflect on the life of Billie G. Simmons, we are reminded of the impact one individual can have through a life of service, love, and faith. Bill’s legacy is one of unwavering devotion to his family, his country, and his God. He was a timely man, He walked this earth as a man of integrity, kindness, and compassion, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. We take comfort in knowing that Bill is now singing with the angels, his soul resting in the eternal embrace of his Lord and Savior. As we say farewell to this remarkable man, let us hold onto the cherished memories and the lessons he imparted through his exemplary life. Billie G. Simmons, a true servant of God, has left us a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
Billie G. Simmons was preceded in death by his mother Alice Simmons, his father Johnnie Simmons, his daughter Billee Georgina Simmons, and brothers Jimmy Leon Tolliver, Robert Tidmore Jr., Eddie Lee Tidmore.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Earnestine Simmons; his beloved children, Angela N. Simmons, Darcie Wilson (Jason). His blessed bonus children, Jenea Mckenzie, Jamone Cox, Jonte Cox, Sharon Lewis, his caring sisters, Fannie Mae Hatcher (Maurice) and Alice M. Simmons; and his supportive brother, Johnie J. Simmons. His eleven grandchildren, and one great-grand child, and a host of relatives and friends. Each family member was a precious thread in the rich tapestry of his life.
