Carmen Mendez

Carmen Barajas Mendez died on August 25, 2024 at the age of 83. She was the widow of Philip Jr. Mendez. Married in 1959 they shared 54 years of marriage before Philips passing in 2013.

Carmen was born in Dallas, Texas on July 25, 1941 to Maria Holquin Barajas and Pasqual Barajas. She was their first daughter and their fifth child of the nine that they had together.

In her career she was most proud of the daycare she owned and operated. She opened the daycare in honor of her sister Caroline.

She will be remembered for the lively stories she told, being fashionable, her fighting spirit, and her devotion to praying for the family.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher (Barbara) Mendez of Huntington Beach, CA; Jeffery (Sandi) Mendez of Mansfield, TX; grandchildren, Joshua, Gabrielle, Catherine, Mallory, & Jordan.

Services will be held privately. Arrangements are being handled by Heritage Memorial Services and The Good Shepherd Cemetery and Mausoleum.
