Dale Chasteen Sr.

Dale E. Chasteen Sr., 71, of Oglesby, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 24, 2025 at the Prey-Mueller Funeral Home, Oglesby with Rev. Gary Blake officiating. Burial will follow in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, LaSalle. Visitation will be 9-11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.

Dale was born November 2, 1953 in Peru to Emal and Hazel (Long) Chasteen of Mt. Palatine. He attended Putnam County Schools until he went to live with his Aunt Leeanne and her family in Peru. There he attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, LaSalle-Peru High School and Illinois Valley Community College. He married Debra K. St. Germaine and they have two daughters, Diane (Brian) Faull of Oglesby and Dawn (Scott) Tregoning of Peru. He married Debrajo Urbino and they have a son, Dale E. Chasteen II of Granville.

Dale worked at farming at Passini Farms in Putnam County. He also worked in fast food, at a factory, and at a greenhouse. He was a fireman in Standard. His passions were eagles, lighthouses, Wheel of Fortune, and drives through Starved Rock State Park. Dale was a member of Holy Family Church in Oglesby.

He leaves behind his wife, Debrajo; his children, Dale II, Diane, and Dawn; five grandchildren, Ashely Faull, Angell, Silas, and Cheyanne Chasteen, and John Tregoning; six siblings, Tom, Billy (Teri), Danny-Jo, Pam, and Connie; numerous nieces and nephews; and good friends, Bill Jones and Nick Sell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; his first wife, Debra Kay; one brother, Albert; two sisters, Janette and Betty; and his mother-in-law and good friend, Katherine Urbino.

The family would like to send special thanks to Lightways Hospice, and especially to nurses, Jacquie and Angel, their nightingales, for the special care they gave to Dale.
