Darlene Myrick of Larned, KS passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 13, 2025.

Born in Miami, Oklahoma on January 16, 1940 to Vernon L. and Cloe Veta (Revels) Harnar; Darlene grew up on the family farm with three siblings before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was here where Darlene met the love of her life, Gary Lee Myrick. They were married on February 16, 1963 and were blessed with three sons and built a beautiful life together with lots of faith, laughter, family and generosity. Gary’s job took them to many communities through the years with Riverton, WY, Bison, KS and Solomon, KS being their favorites where they met and enjoyed many friends while raising their family.

Known for her outgoing personality and laugh, incredible cooking skills, and generous heart, Darlene had a gift for making everyone feel loved. She will be missed by many. She was especially devoted to her family, finding her greatest joy in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Darlene was a homemaker for many years, taking care of her family and creating a warm and welcoming home Later, she became everyone’s favorite “lunch lady”, working for the Otis-Bison and Abilene School Districts. A faithful member of the Assembly of God Church, Darlene lived her life as a devoted servant of her Lord as shown by her compassion and the unconditional love shown to all. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Veta Williams and Phylis Campbell. 

She is survived by her brother, Donnie Harnar, her husband, Gary and three sons Michael (Johanna) Myrick, Rick (Susan) Myrick and Tony (Booja) Myrick; 6 grandchildren Jeremy (Allison) Myrick, Kathleen (Tad) Remy, Erin (Jason) Koelsch, Cullen Myrick, Lynzi Myrick and Daniel Myrick; 10 great-grandchildren Hannah Jo Remy, Landon Remy, Graylynn Myrick, Brecken Koelsch, Teagan Myrick, Avery Remy, Chloe Remy, Baker Myrick, Owen Koelsch and Sutton Myrick along with several nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Aunt Red.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life and memorial will be announced at a later date.
