Darlene Woodford

Darlene Woodford, May 30, 1940 – September 28, 2025

Darlene Ann Woodford (née Lala), age 85, beloved daughter of Anthony and Joyce (née Derocher) Lala, died peacefully on September 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born at the Hotel Dieu hospital, Darlene grew up in the neighborhoods Old Algiers and Old Aurora on the west bank of Orleans parish in New Orleans, LA. She graduated from the Holy Angels Academy in 1958, and attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA before becoming a flight attendant for United Airlines in 1960. She married Donald Lynn Woodford on September 12, 1964, at St. Andrews parish church in New Orleans. A loving wife and dedicated mother, Darlene was blessed with an abundance of wisdom and compassion for others. She shared much love, joy and laughter with all who knew her over the years.

Darlene is survived by her three devoted daughters, Dawn Marie Woodford, of Bel Air, MD; Jennifer Ann Woodford, of Fort Worth, TX and Joanna Lynn Walker (Paul) of Gambrills, MD. Graveside services and internment are planned at the Westlawn Memorial Park, in Gretna, LA, in Spring 2026. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Catholic Charities, USA.
