Dora Fowler, age 87 of Marion, passed away Saturday August 9, 2025.
Dora was born February 21, 1938 in Cowen, WV, the daughter of Arthur Jackson and Pearl (Tharp) Beck. She received her education in Cowen and graduated with the class of 1957. Dora lived in Elyria for nearly 25 years before moving to Marion.
Dora was a spirited and loving woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time in her yard, tending to her plants and enjoying the outdoors. Puzzles brought her quiet satisfaction, and she enjoyed peaceful walks that gave her time to reflect and enjoy nature. She made the very best butterscotch pies and loved to listen to the music of Elvis Presley.
One of Dora’s favorite pastimes was lovingly aggravating and teasing her brother, Doug—something she did with great humor and affection. As a twin with her sister Dorsie, the pair were known as “double trouble,” always full of energy, mischief, and laughter. Her sense of humor and playful spirit left lasting memories with those who knew her.
Fiercely independent and full of quiet strength, Dora lived her life with purpose and heart. She was genuine, generous, and endlessly patient—always giving of her time and attention without hesitation. Her family was her greatest pride, and she especially adored her grandbabies, who brought her boundless happiness.
She is survived by her children: Allen (Lynette) Fowler and Sheila (Brian) Clarke; grandchildren: Brandie (Lester) Ebosh, Austin James “AJ” Fowler, and Felicia Kerr; great-grandchildren: Jaylynn Fowler, Nikayla Kerr, Kaydence Kerr, Colson Fowler and Bodey James will join the family soon; siblings: Alma Jean (the late Leighton) Johnson, her twin Dorsie (the late Roy) Williams and Doug (Shirley) Beck; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Dora enjoyed a joyful homecoming, being reunited with her parents, her beloved grandson Shawn Fowler, and her dear siblings Marjorie (Robert) Rombs and William “Bill” (Betty) Beck.
Visitation will be Friday August 15, 2025 at Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel, 360 East Center St. Marion from 11AM to 1PM; funeral service will follow at 1PM with Pastor Dave Delauder officiating; burial will be in Prospect Cemetery.
