John R. Shaw, 93 of Malone passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025 at the Alice Center in Malone. There will be no public services. The Shaw family has put the trust of their loved one in the care of Frary Funeral Home, Malone.
John was born on March 8, 1932 in Malone to the late Issac and Marion (LaFlesh) Shaw. He attended Malone Central and graduated from Franklin Academy in 1951. Prior to graduating high school John enlisted in the National Guard in 1950. He served in the guard until his honorable discharge in 1953 at the rank of E-5 Sargent. John married the love of his life Mary Evelyn Racicot and together they had five sons and two daughters; John Jr., Thomas, Brian, Charles, Martin, Tracy and Mary JoAnne. John found thrill in driving truck and made it his career for over 50 years. He worked for 26 years at Chapin Motor Freight and then went on to work for other union trucking companies until he took a leap, and started Shaw’s Trucking in 1982 and ran until 1990 when he turned it over to his son Chuck. He then went and worked for North Star Industries for over a decade. While driving for North Star Industries he was chosen driver for The Special Olympics. In 2002 John hung his truck driving hat for the last time and retired. When not in the truck, John could be found outdoors being the true outdoorsman he was walking in the woods. John also could be spending time with animals, especially cats, watching the History Channel especially watching anything WWII related or American Pickers before Frank left.
John is survived by his three sons; Tommy of Connecticut and Chuck and Marty (Christine) of Malone a daughter; Tracey (Joey) Williams of Malone, a daughter-in-law Hilda (Barney) Shaw of Willsboro along with eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Mary, two sons; John Jr. and Brian, a daughter Mary JoAnne who died in infancy, and three sisters; Mary LaGoy, Viola Peryea and Betty Moussa.
