Philomena Campbell

Philomena C. Campbell, 84, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Wynn Hospital. She was born in Rome on November 28, 1940, a daughter of the late Philip and Agatha (Guiliano) Barber. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and on April 23, 1960, she was united in marriage to Willard L. Campbell, Jr. He passed away May 19, 2012.

Philomena was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. She lived a life rooted in love, generosity, and simple joys. Gram found happiness in her garden, where she nurtured flowers and vegetables with the same care she gave to her family. She was also a gifted cook, known for her Sunday sauce, and her kitchen was always a place of warmth, laughter, and comfort.

She is survived by a daughter, Bernadette Wishart (George Sr.); a sister, Roseanne Armstrong; two brothers, Andrew Barber and Frank Barber (Janet);sister-in-law, Sue Barber; six grandchildren, Dixie Enos (Jake), George Wishart Jr. (Laura), Delicia Wishart, Joshua Wishart (Richelle), Dominique Wishart, and Matthew Manderson; 13 great-grandchildren, Helena, Isabella, Julia, Troy, Isaac, Aniya, Greycen, Kabryn, Alena, Kailah, Nico, Aubriella, and Easton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Willard L. Campbell, III, and Raymond Campbell; brother, Philip Barber; sister-in-law, Anita Barber; brother-in-law, Louie Armstrong.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome NY 13440. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
