Sara Louise Westbrook, age 78 affectionately known as “Poochie,” passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Crestview Rehabilitation Center in Crestview, Florida. She was born on June 13, 1947, in Crestview, Florida to Abner Hill and Edith Westbrook, Sara remained a devoted resident of her hometown throughout her life.
A proud graduate of Carver Hill High School, Sara embraced her faith early and was baptized at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many years. Her dedication to the church was evident in her work on the Decorating and Floral Committees and her leadership in the Vacation Bible School Kitchen Committee, ensuring every child was well-fed and cared for. Sara’s warmth extended beyond the church walls. She was known for her love of cooking and her generous spirit, always welcoming family and friends with a hearty meal and a kind heart. She also shared her cooking talents by catering various events in the community. Her professional journey included over 20 years at Fairchild-Hiller/Crestview Aerospace, as well as roles at Goody’s Department Store, JobsPlus/CareerSource Okaloosa-Walton, the City of Crestview Utility Service Division, Skipper’s Furniture Store and as a Supervisor of Election Poll Worker. She also served with compassion and grace as a member of the McKinnie Funeral Home Staff for many years. Sara was a former member of Velma K. Conyers Chapter #7A, Order of Eastern Star.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Abner Hill and Edith Westbrook Shaw; brothers, Irving Westbrook and Richer Shaw; sister, Brenda Shaw Wilks; and her grandparents and other cherished relatives.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through her son, Anthony L. Westbrook of Crestview, FL; grandchildren, Anthony L. Westbrook II of Crestview, FL and April Cobb of Rosenberg, TX; great-grandchildren, Amiya Cobb, Zachary Thomas of Rosenberg, TX, Hayden Weldon, and Hayley Weldon of Crestview, FL; brother, Earnest Shaw of Crestview, FL; great-aunt, Nellie Smith of Crestview, FL; special cousin, Carl Westbrook II of Crestview, FL; sister-in-law, Martha Westbrook of Crestview, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, beloved relatives, and friends.
Sara’s life was a testament to faith, service, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
