Gladys Gessel

Gladys Faye P’Simer Maynard Gessel, 85, of Belpre passed, away October 29, 2025, at the Overbrook Rehab Center in Middleport, OH.

She was born on January 5, 1940 in Olive Hill, KY, a daughter of the late Clyde and Ella Gladys Burchett P’Simer.

Gladys was a graduate of Olive Hill High School in Olive Hill, KY. She had worked as a caregiver. Gladys was Baptist by faith and was a member of the Women of the Moose Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, cooking, gardening and canning. She loved taking care of and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons Hugh Derek Maynard and Mark Maynard both of Marietta, OH; grandchildren Tesla McClure (Nathan), Allie Edgar (Jayson), Malcolm Maynard (Kathryn) and Megan Maynard; great grandchildren Liam McClure, Skyler McClure, Sophia Maynard, Jackson Maynard, Taytum Edgar and step great granddaughter Macie Edgar; a brother Gayle P’Simer; sisters Wanda Benzing and Brenda Cahl; former daughters-in-law Rita Maynard and Kimberly Apple.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert Maynard Jr.; daughter Myra Maynard; sisters Genieva Satterwhite, Lodena McCleese, Loveda Satterwhite, Mary Opal Gilam, Nancy Kilgallin and Katie Schaffer.
