It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Newton Roberts on October 26, 2025, at 75 years old.
Born on June 27, 1950, in Fort Worth, TX, Steve was the son of J.D. Roberts, Jr. and Annie Louise Crump. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1968 and went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.
He served as a police officer for the City of Fort Worth. After working as a police officer and a general manager for American Airlines, Steve was Associate Vice President at Texas Wesleyan University until his retirement.
Steve was married to Jane Roberts, the love of his life. They shared 36 years together. He was devoted to his family and his cats, and he served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was known for his songwriting as well as his interest in genealogy, American muscle cars, and sports memorabilia. He was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers and BYU Cougars. Family and friends remember him for his kindness, curiosity, and dry sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Roberts; his son, Ryan Roberts; his son, Austin Roberts; his daughter, Rachel Whitcomb, and her husband, Brian Whitcomb; his grandchildren, Audrey Huff and Jesse Whitcomb; and his brother, Chris Crump. He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Roberts, Jr.; his mother, Annie Louise Crump; and his brother, Craig Crump.
Visitation will be held at 6:00–8:00 PM on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Wiley Funeral Home.
A service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury.
