Thomas Roy Lucas, known to family and friends as “Tom”, a good man with a heart of gold, passed away peacefully at his home on October 22, 2025, at the age of 63, with his wife Jo by his side.
Tom was born on July 14, 1962 in Crockett, Texas. Tom’s family moved out to California shortly thereafter, making their home in the Central Valley. Tom met his true love, Josephine “Jo” Ellen Mendes, in Modesto and they were married on October 25, 1981. Together they raised their two daughters, Michelle Toliver and Nicole Brooke, who are now married with children of their own.
Tom had several hobbies, but his favorites were fishing and ham radio. Fishing provided him with quiet, peaceful times to be at one with nature. Radio enabled him to meet people from all over the world, frequently talking about his conversations with people just a few states away and people half a world away.
Tom’s highest priority in life was his family. He was a loving, caring, and devoted husband to Jo. He was a loving and protective father to Michelle and Nicole. The pride and joy in his heart when being with his grandchildren Sierra, Nolen, Jolena, Lazarus, Charlotte, and Isabella, was immense.
